Willie Revillame will be arrested for child abuse. Remember the Jan-Jan episode?
Court of Appeals orders arrest of Willie Revillame over child abuse case.
The Court of Appeals has ordered the arrest of Wowowin host, Willie Revillame, over a child abuse case in 2011.
The case arose from a March 2011 episode of the defunct show “Willing Willie”.
During that episode, a six-year old named, Jan-Jan, danced like a macho dancer or male stripper.
It was obvious that the boy was doing it against his will and was crying when he was asked to perform the controversial dance.
Willie Revillame asked the boy to repeat the dance and gave him P10,000 cash.
At one point, Willie said:
Lumuluha pa yan, ibang klase. Parang yung sa pelikulang Burlesk Queen. Umiiyak pa yan. Kaya nya lang ginagawa ‘yun para sa pamilya nya. Sama ng loob pero kailangan ko ‘tong gawin sa aking mga mahal sa buhay.
After this, the boy was repeatedly encouraged to dance on said episode.
This incident prompted the DSWD to file a complaint for violation of the Anti-Child Abuse Law (R.A. 7610) against Willie Revillame.
The Quezon City court found merit in the case and ordered Willie Revillame’s arrest.
Willie filed a motion for reconsideration on October 4, 2013 but was denied. He then brought up the case to the Court of Appeals.
But now the appeals court 13th division had given the order for the arrest and prosecution of Willie Revillame.
In its 11-page decision, the CA stated:
There is probable cause for the petitioner’s commission of a crime, his arrest and arraignment should now ensue so that this case may properly proceed to trial where the merits of both parties’ evidence and allegations may be weighed.
The decision was issued through Associate Justice Ma. Luisa Quijano-Padilla and was concurred by Associate Justices Normandie Pizarro and Samuel Gaerlan.
