After their impersonations of Elvis Presley and Madonna last November 6th, Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza and Alden Richards decided to go local.
On November 7th, The AlDub love team impersonated the original phenomenal and iconic love team of Philippine showbiz, Guy and Pip.
Their performance as Guy and Pip brought back a lot of fond memories when Superstar Nora Aunor (Guy) and Tirso Cruz III (Pip) were the toast of the town in the late ’60s to early ’70s.
The highlight of Yaya Dub and Alden’s “Gaya-Gaya Pa More” performance was when they sang Guy and Pip’s popular duet “Together Again”.
They were very sweet and funny at the same time. Another high point was when they dubsmashed God Gave Me You, while facing each other. They only had eyes for each other while doing that.
Fans also went crazy when Alden quoted the lines about the ring that he was supposed to give Yaya Dub on October 31st. But the ring is gone!
For those who want to know the nitty-gritty details about the November 7th Kalyeserye episode, just read on.
Yaya Dub was in a retro dress, and had that iconic mole on the cheek, looking and acting like Ate Guy in her teens. Alden Richards wore a wig to look more like Pip, and carried with him a doll like Maria Leonora Theresa.
For those who don’t know, the walking doll named Maria Leonora Theresa is Pip’s gift to Guy in the early days of their love team.
It was taken as a symbol to signify the unity of their love team. Whenever the two had a lover’s quarrel, it was dressed in black and worse, taken back by Pip.
Well, back to this generation’s phenomenal love team.
Alden sang “Maria Leonora Theresa” while Yaya Dub sang “Tiny Bubbles”, a Don Ho song popularized by Nora in the Philippines.
While Yaya Dub was singing Tiny Bubbles, she was making pabebe waves and and even threw a flying kiss to Alden who acted like he got dizzy when he caught that kiss.
Yaya Dub also dubsmashed the Superstar’s famous lines from “Himala” and “Minsa’y Isang Gamu-Gamo”, pointing every now and then to her mole. Then she also sang a snippet of “Pearly Shells”, which is Nora’s best-selling single.
Fans started screaming when Alden Richards and Yaya Dub approached each other in “slow-motion” and were moving backwards and forwards, making the fans all the more excited. They were so near each other yet the director decided to show them on split screen again!
The lolas, who were dressed as Jessie J (Lola Nidora), Ariana Grande (Tidora), and Nicki Minaj (Tinidora) asked Yaya Dub and Alden to perform together.
The pair then sang “Together Again”. There were lots of moments wherein Yaya Dub and Alden were looking into each other’s eyes. For a few seconds, Alden hugged Yaya from the back and held her hand while they were singing. They made the heart sign and then Alden side hugged Yaya Dub towards the end of the song. The fans were shown covering their mouths, trying to stifle their giggles.
Alden then asked, “Maine, may tanong ako sayo. Sigurado ka ba talagang taga-Bulacan ka? Hindi taga-Laguna” (I have a question for you. Are you sure you’re from Bulacan and not Laguna?)
Yaya Dub asked , “Bakit?” (Why?)
Alden answered, “Kasi, luma Laguna na yung nararamdaman ko para sayo.” (Because what i feel for you is growing.)
Then, he followed with another one of his pick-up lines, “Gusto ko bago matapos ang araw na ito, maisip mo na, hindi ka gaya-gaya” (Before this day ends, I want you to know that you are not an imitation.) Again, Yaya Dub asked why? And Alden replied with, “Kasi, original ka dito sa puso ko.” (Because you are an “original” in my heart.)
Fantastic Baby played in the background as the audience and AlDub danced. Yaya Dub acted so refined while she was dancing, so unlike her usual hyperactive self.
Then Yaya said, AlDub you to Alden. They sang “Together again” for a few seconds. Lola Nidora interrupts them and says they are enjoying too much. She noticed that Alden’s wig had got a bit messed up.
Yaya Dub fixed his wig and said, “Ayan. Guwapo!” (There! So handsome!)
Upon the request of Tito Sotto, the AlDub love team dubsmashed their favorites.
It seems Yaya Dub is already used to holding onto Alden’s arm. Sometimes, she leans her head slightly towards his shoulder. If you know body language, you’d know what this “leaning” means. Do we have to spell it out here?
Lola Nidora reprimands them about this show of affection.
Both Yaya Dub and Alden thanked Lola Nidora for allowing them to join “Gaya-gaya Pa More”
When they dubsmashed “God Gave Me You” , they were making side comments and were looking at each other like they were the only ones in the studio. Yaya Dub was giggling and smiling and they were both raising their eyebrows at each other. Wait, have they invented their own AlDub sign language now?
Both Yaya Dub and Alden said that Lola Nidora need not worry because they will always remember all the lessons of Lola Nidora.
But Lola Nidora said, “Pero minsan, sa sobrang pagka sweet ninyo, nakakalimutan ninyong nakatingin kaming tatlong mga lola ninyo.” (But sometimes, when you’re too sweet with each other, you forget that we, three grandmas are watching you.)
Allan K asked a question that made all fans scream with joy. He said, “Lola sabi mo kanina malayo mararating nitong dalawa, palagay mo ba makakarating sa altar? ” (Lola, didn’t you say earlier that these two will have a long way to go. Do you think they will reach the altar?)
Lola Nidora said that Yaya Dub and Alden are much too young for the altar that Allan K is talking about.
Then, Alden sings “Wish I May” to Yaya Dub upon the request of Tito Sotto. It turned to a duet later when Yaya Dub sang with him. Again, they were looking at each other and were like kids teasing each other. Alden seemed to remove something from Yaya Dub’s left eyebrow, what was that?
Later, Alden gives Yaya three red flower to signify Al-Dub-You. After giving those, both of them pretended to shy away from each other, with Yaya Dub even trying to go under the rail of the small wooden bridge they were standing on.
A few moments later, Alden took out the jewelry box which they found at the haunted house.
While the fans were going wild, anticipating what will happen, Yaya Dub was said “Lola, hindi po ako na orient.” (Grandma, I wasn’t oriented.) She touched her forehead, her hand almost covering her face. Alden, did too. That was a cute pose, quite new and original.
Yaya Dub continued and mimicked Nora’s style when she said, “Lola, kinakabahan ako. Ano yan, ano yan?” (Grandma, I’m nervous. What is that? What’s that?)
Alden recalled the words written on the scroll they found inside the jewelry box. Alden said. ” Sabi po dun sa sulat, Ibigay ko daw po ito sa taong gusto kong makasama panghabang buhay, na pang matagalan at walang katapusan.” ( The letter said that I should give this to the person whom I want to be with my whole life, for a long time, and forever.)
But when he opened the box, there was no ring to be found. Yaya Dub went back to her Nora Aunor way of talking and said, “Wala na ang laman. Sino kumuha sainyo ng laman? Ikaw (pointing to the audience), naniniwala ka ba sa forever?” (There is nothing inside. Who took what’s inside the box? You, do you believe in forever?) The fans in the studio were howling with laughter as Yaya Dub was asking them.
Yaya Dub and Alden said “Nawawala ang singsing. Asawa ni? Songsong” (The ring is gone. Married to? Songsong. NOTE: That’s a play of Tagalog words , a pun which loses meaning when translated to English.) They laughed at their own joke and high fived over it.
But Lola Nidora told them it’s not a joke. That the ring has to be found because it is very important. As Lola Nidora shouted, “Importante yun” (That’s important), the freeze-frame happened.
Everyone forgot about the doll. Guy and Pip never forgot about Maria Leonora Theresa, just saying.
So, that’s how the Gaya Gaya Pa More Kalyeserye episode ended.
Now, where did that ring go? What will happen to Yaya Dub and Alden’s forever now that it’s gone?
