AlDub one-on-one, heart-to-heart interview on their 38th Weeksary
A lot of AlDub fans were eagerly anticipating a one-on-one basketball game between Maine Mendoza a.k.a. Divina and Alden Richards as they agreed upon on April 6. Lola Tinidora and Lola Nidora even had their pom poms and ready cheers for Divina.
But the pair opted to have a one-on-one interview or heart-to-heart talk for their 38th Weeksary, instead. Fans were more than happy to witness the talk between the two.
The one-on-one interview should have been between Alden and Divina or Yaya Dub. But like in other Kalyeserye episodes, there’s that usual blurring between reality and fiction . Though the questions may have been framed by Kalyeserye writers, Maine and Alden answered each other in a spontaneous, unscripted way.
At the start of the interview, both Alden and Maine admitted that they really had a crush on each other. Maine reasoned out that she had a crush on Alden because he was cute, while the Pambansang Bae answered that Maine became his crush when he started watching her dubsmash videos, way before Kalyeserye happened.
Alden explained that he liked Maine because she was different from the others. “Kakaiba ka sa lahat,” was how he described her.
The Pambansang Bae also asked Maine why she had her picture taken with him at the Candy Fair event 5 years ago. Maine said that it’s because she found him to be cute despite his “di kanais-nais” hairstyle.
Did Alden ever get curious about Maine prior to their meeting?
Alden told Maine that he always asked everyone what kind of person she is off cam, her favorite food. He asked Maine if she remembered the box of food she sent her. Maine was surprised that the box of goodies actually came from Alden. She said, “Ay, di ko pa naco-confirm sayo yun.” Alden answered, “Akin yun. Di mo alam?”
It should be recalled that somebody sent Maine a box of sweets during the early days of Kalyeserye. But it was unclear where it came from.
What do they consider as their most memorable moments in their 38 weeks as AlDub?
Maine said that what she treasures most are those moments when they were only allowed to see each other for brief moments, especially that scene in the van. Alden agreed and said, “gusto na talaga kitang mahawakan nun. Kasi parang ayun na e. Ang lapit na o. Puro hininga lang naaamoy ko nun.”
AlDub said that they were both looking forward to each Saturday, with Alden saying he never felt as excited as he did during those early days of Kalyeserye. He confirmed that he had a lot of “firsts” with Maine, and Maine said it was the same for her.
Then came the best question of the one-on-one interview. Maine asked, “Kung magiging bagay ako sayo, ano yun, at bakit?”
Surprisingly, Alden had a ready answer. He said, “Relo. Kasi hindi ko kayang mai pass-by yung araw na yun nang walang relo. So gusto ko lagi kong kasama yung relo.” Maine couldn’t help but smile at his answer.
Alden added, “Saka sabi nila, if may isang taong espesyal sayo, if you give time to her, that’s love.”
A few minutes later, Alden added that he treasures those moments when he’s with Maine off-cam, when there are no cameras around, or when no one’s following them.
Meanwhile, Maine said Alden is a different person when it’s just the two of them. He is more expressive, thus Maine said that they get to know each other better.
Asked what their song is for each other, Alden sang an excerpt from Justin Timberlake’s Mirrors. He sang:
Cause I don’t wanna lose you now
I’m lookin’ right at the other half of me.
The vacancy that sat in my heart
Is a space that now you hold
For her part, Maine sang only one line from Stay, by Carol Banawa. Maine only sang the line, “I want you to stay, never go away from me. Stay forever…”
They leaned closer together upon the suggestion of Lola Tinidora. Alden almost touched his nose to Maine’s face, which made a lot of fans scream with joy.
Though the entire studio audience was asking for a kiss, they never did. They just greeted each other, the whole studio audience, and the AlDub nation a happy 38th weeksary.
Oh well, as Maine and Alden said, they still have a long way to go. Their fans can expect a lot more sweetness in the weeksaries and monthsaries to come.
