The finale of ElNella’s Born For You made waves online as the audience was treated to live acting by the whole cast at The Kia Theater on September 16.

The confrontation scene initiated by Marge (Ayen Munji-Laurel) against Sam (Janella Salvador) and later on joined by Kevin (Elmo Magalona) and other cast members, was one of the highlights of the show.

Born For You (BFY) viewers at home were taken aback with the seamless acting of the whole cast, in front of a live audience. The dialogues and acting were on the spot, despite the “one take” nature of a live performance.

According to comments online, BFY Live: The  Concert Finale, turned from a musical concert, to a teleserye, to a stage play.

Though it wasn’t the first time in the history of Philippine television  that a finale was done live (Bituing Walang Ningning in 2006, OTWOL in 2015), fans of the series were all praises for the cast members. They were especially amazed by Ayen’s fierce acting, in the true spirit of a villain for the whole series.

Viewers were also impressed with Janella’s live dramatic performance. As Sam, Janella was teary-eyed throughout the whole live episode. Netizens could not believe that she was that good, delivering her dialogues effortlessly and singing while she was on the verge of tears.

Elmo Magalona (Kevin) acted like a gallant knight in shining armor, defending Sam from the onslaught of hatred coming from Marge.

Other cast members, including Vina Morales (Cathy), Ariel Rivera (Mike), Gina Pareño (Caring), Freddie Webb (Ralph) and Ogie Diaz (Desmond) gave credible performances too, that didn’t go unnoticed.

The hashtag #BFYConcertFinale grabbed the top spot of Twitter’s trending topics in the Philippines and took the #2 spot worldwide and in 59 more countries, according to PH Social Media Stat.

BFY lasted for only three months, with a total of 65 episodes. It amassed a lot of loyal viewers and gave birth to the ElNella fandom, whose only wish after the finale was another teleserye for Elmo and Janella.
