Maine Mendoza joins Vic Sotto and Coco Martin in 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival official entry titled “Popoy en Jack: The Puliscredibles”.
Titled “Popoy en Jack: The Puliscredibles“, it will be Maine Mendoza’s first movie without her love team partner, Alden Richards.
Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards are most widely known as the AlDub love team, an accidental pairing which started on July 16, 2015. AlDub soared to the pinnacle of fame in the “Kalyeserye” segment of noontime show “Eat Bulaga”.
The confirmation came from no less than Vic Sotto himself, in an interview by ABS-CBN on the sidelines of Celine Dion’s concert at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Vic Sotto voiced Maine Mendoza’s outright approval of the project, which he will co-produce with Coco Martin’s production outfit and APT Entertainment.
Asked how they were able to convince Maine to join the action-comedy film, the veteran comedian and Eat Bulaga host said, “She felt it was a good project. Maganda iyong role niya and hindi lang basta challenging. It’s her first time to do a role na ganito so ‘di kami nagdalawang salita sa kaniya, pumayag agad siya.(The role is good and not just challenging. It’s her first time to do a role like this, so we did not need to convince her that much. She agreed outright.”
The participation of Maine Mendoza in the 2018 MMFF movie has been announced in the last few days of June by Universal Records Ph, according to Inquirer.net.
In an interview with philstar.com, Coco Martin did not officially name Maine Mendoza as the leading lady, because he said it wasn’t finalized yet. Coco Martin himself, using his real name Rodel Nacianceno, will direct the action-comedy film.
With Vic Sotto finally affirming Maine Mendoza’s participation in “Popoy en Jack: The Puliscredibles”, fans of the Philippine’s Twitter Queen will have something to look forward to this coming Christmas season.
