Now showing in more than 170 Philippine theaters since August 1, 2018, thousands of Filipinos who have seen the film agree with the critics. Some have posted online that the audience in some cinemas cannot help but applaud at the end of the film.

Buybust was deemed not only as an action movie but as a social commentary, in light of the bloody drug war in the Philippines.

Actor and film producer Dingdong Dantes posted his take on the movie on Twitter. He wrote: “BuyBust” definitely set the bar high for Pinoy genre films. It successfully disrupts the norm and responsibly stirs the conversation to the best interest of the industry. It is definitely a leader in its own right. Kudos to its creators headed by @ErikMatti & annecurtissmith”.

The beautiful Filipino-Australian actress, Anne Curtis, is a revelation in the film. Her breakthrough role as rookie police officer Nina Manigan is a complete departure from her typical romantic-comedy characters.

Actress and TV personality Isabelle Daza said, she was proud of Anne Curtis and that the film was “So good, I didn’t check my phone once!”. She also asked Director Erik Matti to make more films.

Iza Calzado also praised Anne, saying “Have so much respect for the work that you put into this film @annecurtissmith you are such a bad ass! Galing mo! (You’re so good!)”

Anne’s close friend, vlogger and businessman Nico Bolzico, posted a worried-looking picture of him on Instagram, with the caption: “Me after watching @annecurtissmith in #buybust” and remembering all the times I made fun of her cooking. I am so dead! Congrats Plus! Awesome movie.”

On Twitter, Actor Robi Domingo has this to say, “Action just got a lot better because of you @annecurtissmith! One of the best movies I’ve seen!”
