American singer and actress Ariana Grande (age 25) will give a send-off to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin (aged 76) who died of pancreatic cancer on August 16, 2018.
Ariana Grande will sing at Aretha’s private funeral service on August 31, 2018 at 10 AM at the Greater Grace Temple, 23500 W Seven Mile Rd, Detroit, MI 48219.
Aside from Ariana, an all-star lineup will perform at Aretha’s funeral. That includes Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Shirley Caesar, Marvin Sapp and Vanessa Bell Armstrong.
Also slated to perform are Ron Isley, Chaka Khan, Yolanda Adams, Jennifer Holliday and Aretha Franklin’s son, Edward Franklin.
On The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Ariana Grande cried while singing one of Aretha Franklin’s popular songs, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”
I met her [Aretha Franklin] a few times. We sang at the White House, and she was so sweet, and she was so cute. I was like, ‘How are you a real person?’ It’s an honor to have met her, and we’re gonna celebrate her.
She called me one time. It was one time only. She called me. She goes, “Hi, it’s Aretha.” And I was like, ‘Franklin?’
Former US President Bill Clinton, and others will speak at the funeral, too.
Fans are currently paying their last respects and saying goodbyes to Aretha Franklin during a two-day open-casket visitation in Detroit City, Michigan, USA.
