Gary Valenciano’s take in life, from battling kidney cancer, Type 1 diabetes and heart surgery.
Singer-songwriter Gary Valenciano, aka Gary V. and Mr. Pure Energy, is an inspiration to many people because he remains energetic despite going through many trials in life.
Just last May 2018, he underwent an emergency open heart surgery after his coronary arteries were blocked (a complication of having diabetes). He excused himself from all the commitments (including him being a judge in ‘Your Face Sounds Familiar‘, a singing and impersonation competition for celebrities) until he fully recovers.
It was a successful heart surgery for Gary Valenciano and now he’s back to work again. Aside from that, the bypass surgery revealed he “had” kidney cancer. He’s thankful that he got treated for it and is now cancer-free.
‘I have never been afraid to die,’ Gary said on the Filipino primetime entertainment talk show ‘Tonight with Boy Abunda’ last Friday, August 3, 2018. He was diagnosed with diabetes at 14 years old and was given 30 years to live. But now he’s 54 years old and still living his life for faith and music.
