On August 28, 2018, it was announced that veteran American actor and comedian Alec Baldwin (age 60) would portray Thomas Wayne, Batman’s (Bruce Wayne) father in the upcoming DC Comics movie in 2019 which is yet-to-be-titled.
There are not much details yet about the Joker movie except it will be about how Joker became a criminal mastermind.
American actor Joaquin Phoenix (age 43) will portray Joker. The movie has a schedule release date of October 4, 2019 in the US.
According to Alec Balwin, he can’t be a part of the movie due to scheduling issues and that’s the reason why he’s dropping out of the Joker movie.
I’m no longer doing that [Joker] movie. I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part.
Alec Balwin also confirmed his dropping out of the movie on Twitter.
Let me state, for the record, that I have NOT been hired to play a role in Todd Phillips’ JOKER as some Donald Trump manque. That is not happening. Not. Happening. [ref]
The role of Thomas Wayne in the upcoming Joker movie is different from the comic books. He is reportedly a cheesy and tanned businessman in the 1980s version of US President Donald Trump.
Alec Baldwin is known for imitating Donald Trump on the Emmy Award-winning late-night comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL). And so many believed that the Thomas Wayne role would be an easy-peasy one for Alec.
The 2019 Joker movie is directed and co-written by Todd Phillips. And aside from Joaquin Phoenix, these actors will be in the movie, too:
– Veteran actor Robert De Niro (age 75), who is also known for portraying the young Vito Corleone in the 1974 film ‘The Godfather Part II’
– German-American actress and “Deadpool 2” breakout star, Zazie Beetz (age 27)
– American stand-up comedian and Netflix’s ‘GLOW’ actor Marc Maron (age 54)
