Filipino-American Radha, a 19-year old singer-songwriter from New Jersey, made 3 of the 4 coaches turn their chairs for her blind audition at The Voice 2018 (U.S. Season 15).

Singing Jessie J‘s “Mamma Knows Best”, Radha’s soulful rendition punctuated by powerful high notes, caused coach and Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine (age 39), to turn his chair less than 20 seconds after she started performing on stage.

Coaches Jennifer Hudson (age 37), Blake Shelton (age 42) and Kelly Clarkson (age 36), waited in the wings while Radha continued belting the song.

In the end, actress and singer Jennifer Hudson and country singer and songwriter Blake Shelton turned. But Hudson got a surprise Block from Levine, the first for the season.

In the end, Radha picked Team Adam for her journey on The Voice 2018.

Comments from coaches of ‘The Voice’ 2018

Adam Levine told Radha:

First of all, that beginning threw me back so far into my chair that I didn’t know if I was gonna be able to get back up again.

He added that he is amazed by the way she performed, the control, and the maturity. He said Radha emits an amazing vibe when she sings.

Singer and songwriter Kelly Clarkson, though she did not turn for Radha, totally agreed with Levine.

Levine then apologized to Hudson, who said she was so hurt and didn’t know what to do about the block.

To Radha, Jennifer Hudson said:

I’m just happy to see a voice like yours make it to a show like this. You outdid yourself, little sister. I just wanna say that.

As for Shelton, here’s his comment for Radha:

I don’t think we have ever had a blind audition where somebody vocally kicked the door down like you did when you stepped on the stage. Unbelievable.
