ABS-CBN had a red carpet welcome for Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez (age 48), who formally signed a contract with the network on October 17, 2018.
The contract signing formalizes Regine Velasquez’s transfer to ABS-CBN from GMA Network, her home network for the past two decades.
ABS-CBN now proudly proclaims that Regine Velasquez, an icon of the Philippine music industry, is now a Kapamilya (the term used for ABS-CBN artists and fans).
ABS-CBN’s Grand Welcome for Regine Velasquez
At the lobby of ABS-CBN, hundreds of employees and fans lined up to welcome Regine Velasquez, complete with blue and yellow balloons, fansigns with the words “Welcome Home Songbird”, and smartphones recording her arrival.
Regine Velasquez was emotional when she saw the adoring mob welcoming her. Wiping her tears away while her husband Ogie Alcasid smiled happily beside her, Regine cradled a bouquet of yellow flowers in one hand and waved at her fans with the other.
It’s not the first time that Regine stepped into the halls of ABS-CBN. In her early years as an actress, she appeared in the drama anthology “Maalaala mo Kaya” hosted by Charo Santos-Concio, and won a Star Award for Best Actress for her performance.

At the contract signing, Regine Velasquez said, “I’m very happy, excited. Overwhelmed right now.”
The details of her contract with ABS-CBN are understably under wraps. But there are earlier speculations of her joining the judges of the reality TV singing competition, “The Voice Philippines”.
Regine’s first major appearance as a Kapamilya would be as a guest performer at the “ASAP Live in Sydney” show which will be held at the ICC Sydney Theatre in Australia on October 20, 2018.
