It has finally come true! Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez (age 48) has moved from her long-time home GMA Network to its rival, ABS-CBN.

Actress and singer Regine Velasquez is now a contract artist of ABS-CBN, and can finally be called a “Kapamilya”, a generic term for all ABS-CBN stars.

GMA Network Senior Vice President and Entertainment Group Head Lilybeth Rasonable confirmed that Regine Velasquez is leaving GMA Network.

In an official statement sent to PEP, Rasonable said GMA Network understands Regine Velasquez’s decision to join her husband, former GMA Network and now ABS-CBN star Ogie Alcasid.

Here’s the full statement from GMA Network:

After two decades, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has officially said her goodbyes to the Kapuso Network.

We understand her decision to join her husband and we wish her well as she pursues other opportunities outside GMA Network.

Regine Velasquez has not officially announced her transfer to ABS-CBN yet but she has posted a photo of her participation of the upcoming “ASAP Live in Sydney” show on October 20, 2018.

The Rumor about Regine Velasquez’s transfer to ABS-CBN

The rumor that Regine Velasquez will leave GMA Network has been going on for some time now.

Regine Velasquez reportedly bid goodbye to the staff of “Sarap Diva”, months before she left the show.

“Sarap Diva” is a cooking talk show hosted by Regine which started way back October 2012.

The rumor intensified, when Regine Velasquez attended the ABS-CBN Ball 2018 on September 29, 2018, and had her pictures taken with the big bosses of ABS-CBN.

Regine did not walk the red carpet but accompanied her husband, actor and singer Ogie Alcasid (age 51), to the event. Ogie, formerly a GMA Network contract artist, transferred to ABS-CBN in 2017.

According to the grapevine, it’s Ogie Alcasid who convinced Regine to transfer to ABS-CBN. But Ogie has denied such claims.

ABS-CBN Offer for Regine Velasquez

A Philstar article dated October 1, 2018 stated that according to their reliable sources, Regine’s first project at ABS-CBN will be to become a judge in the hit reality TV singing competition “The Voice Philippines.”

On October 3, 2018 veteran showbiz columnist Ricky Lo wrote in his column that his source said Regine already had a copy of the contract from ABS-CBN at that time but has not signed it yet.

Most people expected Regine Velasquez would be able to confirm her transfer to ABS-CBN after her USA Tour 2018.

Regine’s USA Tour started October 5, 2018 and will end on October 14, 2018.
