Actor Romnick Sarmenta (age 46) and Harlene Bautista (age 43) have announced their separation after 19 years of marriage.
No reason was given for the separation and both Romnick and Harlene asked for privacy, for the sake of their 5 children.
The couple said they remain great friends, despite their decision to part ways.
Romnick and Harlene issued a joint statement to PEP.ph to announce the separation.
Here are excerpts from their joint statement:
Romnick and I have five beautiful children, whom we love and treasure very much – we have spent many years together as best friends and partners in everything that we have done.
Even more so in raising our family.
We will always be great friends if not the best of friends.
With the greatest respect and mutual love, wanting nothing but happiness for each other, we have decided to part ways.
We would like to appeal for privacy, for our children and for each other as well.
Being public figures, we know that this will not go unnoticed – and we didn’t want speculations, rumours and gossips to destroy the wonderful memories we share, the peace that we continue to have as best friends.
We both decided that it would be best to issue a statement, in an intention to let this be the first and last time that we talk about it.

Romnick Sarmenta and Harlene Bautista met each other in GMA Network’s variety show, “That’s Entertainment”, when they were in their teens.
Considered as a 90’s teen idol, Romnick was often paired with actress Sheryl Cruz. The love team of Romnick and Sheryl was quite popular during that time.
But it was Romnick and Harlene who ended up together in real life.
Romnick Sarmenta and Harlene Bautista married in 1999 in a civil ceremony and had their church wedding a year later. They renewed their wedding vows in 2002 in Las Vegas.
The couple have 5 kids (one boy and 4 girls) namely Abijah, Seki, Bo, Merel and Yuwela. Their eldest is around 20 years old while their youngest is about 5 years old.
