This movie is based on the true story of John Smith, who fell through ice in Lake St. Louis at age 14, while playing with his friends. According to reports, CPR was performed for 27 minutes to no avail.
Joyce Smith (Chrissy Metz), the mother of John, prayed aloud to God and miraculously, the youth had a pulse again.
John is put in a coma, and despite the odds stacked against him, his parents Joyce and Brian (Josh Lucas) were steadfast in their faith in God and in their belief that John will pull through.
