The biggest stars in the Philippines visited several cinemas on Christmas Day to thank their respective supporters for watching their Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2018 movies.
Actor and producer Coco Martin (age 37) and actress and TV host Maine Mendoza (age 23) made stops in several SM cinema theaters to thank their thousands of fans who watched “Jack Em Popoy: The PulisCredibles” on the first day of MMFF 2018.
Coco Martin visited Trinoma, SM North, SM Megamall and SM Mall of Asia with his co-stars Lito Lapid and Mark Lapid. Thousands of screaming fans greeted them inside the said malls.
Maine Mendoza went to several theaters like Coco Martin, and even came back the next day to attend block screenings sponsored by her fan clubs.
Actor and TV host Vice Ganda (age 42) did the same for viewers of “Fantastica”. He was with co-stars Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, Donny Pangilinan, Dingdong Dantes and Richard Gutierrez for the premiere screening of the movie at the SM Mall of Asia cinemas.
Dingdong Dantes came with his wife, actress and TV host Marian Rivera, while Richard Gutierrez toured the cinemas with his wife Sarah Lahbati and son Zion Gutierrez, and his siblings Raymond and Ruffa Gutierrez.
Actress Kim Chiu (age 28) was also spotted thanking fans who watched Regal Films’ MMFF 2018 entry, “One True Love”.
Jericho Rosales (age 39) made a surprise appearance in one cinema, standing up and thanking the moviegoers when the film credits were rolling up for his MMFF 2018 movie, “The Girl in the Orange Dress”.
Sisters Toni Gonzaga (age 34) and Alex Gonzaga (age 30) also visited a cinema to thank those who viewed their MMFF entry “Mary, Marry Me”.
Basketball player turned movie star Ricci Rivero also thanked his supporters who watched his debut film, “Otlum”.
Meanwhile, the stars of horror flick “Aurora” and LGBT-themed “Rainbow’s Sunset” promoted their respective films during their mall tours prior to the premiere screening of their movies.
First Day Gross of MMFF films
The first day gross earnings of MMFF entries are not out yet, but judging from the videos and photos shared online, the top grosser might be a close fight between “Jack Em Popoy: The PulisCredibles” and “Fantastica”.
“Jack Em Popoy: The PulisCredibles”, which is top billed by Coco Martin, Vic Sotto, and Maine Mendoza is graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).
“Fantastica”, which stars Vice Ganda, Dingdong Dantes, Richard Gutierrez, Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, Donny Pangilinan and Kisses Delavin is graded B by the CEB.
Horror film “Aurora”, which stars Anne Curtis, is estimated by some as most likely to take third place in terms of gross earnings. “Aurora” is also graded B by the CEB.
