The Voice 2018 live results episode on December 4, 2018 was bizarre and controversial for most viewers.
DeAndre Nico and Reagan Strange of Team Adam Levine; and Dave Fenley of Team Blake Shelton landed at the bottom three.
Reagan Strange got the Instant Save while Dave Fenley and DeAndre Nico were eliminated.

Reagan Strange was too sick to sing during the show while Dave Fenley sang “Amazed”. DeAndre Nico sang “All of Me” and got the nod of the judges and the live audience who cheered for him.

But DeAndre Nico’s coach, Adam Levine, made an impassioned plea for the public to give Reagan Strange a chance to come back and redeem herself next week. That is, after giving DeAndre Nico some praise.
Most netizens said that Adam Levine threw DeAndre Nico under the bus for his comments on who to vote for in the Instant Save.

DeAndre you’re an exquisite singer. I’m a little confused as to why you’re in the bottom. That perplexes me. I guess now (inaudible) this could have happened more than once.
But I wanna say this, there is an unbelievably talented little girl right now, who is not able to fight for her position on this show. And you were fortunate enough tonight to be able to sing. And man, you sang like a champ. This guy sang like a champ.
So, I can’t sing for Reagan, Reagan has to sing for Reagan and she’s not here. And it’s really, really hard for me not to just…as much as I urge you all to vote for this man cause he should never have been in the bottom, I don’t know If I have the heart to not tell everyone right now. I have a very, very special relationship with Reagan. And I have two little girls at home.
The thought of breaking her heart by not urging everyone to give this girl a shot to go and redeem herself next week… would be too far beneath me.
So I want you to know I love you (DeAndre), I appreciate what you’ve done here tonight, and honestly I think you should both be there.
But I gotta fight for my girl. And I got to make sure I represent her properly in this moment because she didn’t have a chance to use her voice tonight. So I’m gonna use it as well as I possibly can to make sure she can make it next week. That’s all I can say, it’s weird.

After the commercial break, Coach Kelly Clarkson came to defend DeAndre. She said DeAndre “sang the hell out of that song” and that Adam Levine just really feels bad for Reagan.
The Aftermath
Reagan Strange won the Instant Save by a hairline with 38% of the votes, compared to 37% for DeAndre. Dave Fenley got 24% of the votes.
Many netizens have expressed their disappointment with Adam Levine and said what he did was wrong.
A lot of commenters on social media want him to be fired from the show or to resign from the The Voice after what happened. Some said that Adam Levine should also apologize to DeAndre, while some have commented that contestants may never trust Adam anymore after this controversy.
