Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray drops by the Miss Universe headquarters in New York, proudly wearing “a denim skirt hand-embellished with mother of pearl by the Tagakaolo tribe”.

The Tagakaolo is an ethnic tribe that inhabit Mindanao, Sarangani, Davao del Sur and Mt. Apo.

Catriona cited fashion designer Wilson NiñoFranco Limon and stylist Ton Lao for her casual chic ensemble.

Dropped by the @missuniverse headquarters today. Super jetlagged but giant cups of tea and coffee are getting me through!

Catriona Gray is in New York as part and parcel of her reign as Miss Universe. But she will undoubtedly continue to showcase the Filipino culture and creations even during her stay at the Big Apple.

The fourth Miss Universe of the Philippines, Catriona Gray stays true to her Instagram post when she won the Miss Universe title: “Philippines what an amazing honor it has been to carry your name across my chest and to embody you in all aspects. I may now carry the sash of Miss Universe, but I’ll forever be your Miss Philippines.”
