Samsung gave the attendees of the Galaxy UNPACKED 2019 event in San Francisco, California, a pair of their newest wireless earphones called Galaxy Buds. The Galaxy Buds are Samsung’s answer to Apple’s AirPods. Galaxy Buds are cheaper than the AirPods, they cost $130 and will go on sale at the end of March 2019.

Galaxy Buds also come with wireless charging capabilities which is not supported by Apple’s AirPods at the moment. It’s got a bulky design with the battery inside. Galaxy Buds look very comfortable to wear.

Galaxy Buds: Official Introduction

Even though they’re cheaper than AirPods, the sound from Galaxy Buds is decent. No matter if you’re outside, and it’s windy, and there’s traffic, they will still sound good.

Galaxy Buds has USB-C. Also, they will give you six (6) hours of battery life when you’re streaming music or around five hours when you’re talking to someone on the phone. Meanwhile, the case that comes with the Galaxy Buds is going to give you seven (7) hours of extra battery life.

As to the noise canceling, Galaxy Buds don’t have that feature, but they do have a dual-mic system. What that does is, when you’re talking to someone on the phone, it’ll move to a different mic so they can pick your voice up clearly — only your voice and not pick up all the ambient noise around you. That’s so important for wireless earbuds.

A lot of existing wireless earbuds, excluding AirPods, are terrible at picking up all of the ambient noise around you. And that makes talking on the phone really difficult.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Buds don’t have that issue because of their dual-mic system. Samsung claims it will be better than your average wireless earbuds when it comes to picking up sound and picking up your voice when you’re talking on the phone.

In terms of color options, there are three different colors to choose from. There’s a white variant, black, and then canary yellow.

The Galaxy Buds is set to launch in the US on March 6, 2019 for $129.99. In Europe, it would be on March 29, 2019, for €149. But if you preorder the Galaxy S10 or the Galaxy S10 Plus, they’ll come bundled with it.

In terms of pairing, Samsung has a cool little AirPods-like animation for when you’re using Galaxy Buds on a Galaxy device. Though you can still pair Galaxy Buds if you’re using an iPhone. All you need to do is open them up right in front while you’re looking at the Bluetooth menu, and they should pop up under the Other Devices. It will only take just a second. Tap it, and you’re connected. According to Samsung, connecting Galaxy Buds to your phone is super seamless even if you’re an iOS user.
