Filipino comedian Chokoleit (real name: Jonathan Aguilar Garcia), who was best known for his role as Pearly Shell in the Philippine television series Marina, has passed away on March 9, 2019 at age 46.
Chokoleit’s talent agency, Star Magic, stated that Chokoleit was performing in an out of town show in Abra, Philippines. Chokoleit experienced difficulty in breathing after his performance, according to Star Magic.
An ambulance arrived and brought Chokoleit to the Abra Provincial Hospital. Chokoleit’s attending physician Dr. Rosauro Seares confirmed his cause of death, that Chokoleit had pulmonary edema (a condition caused by excess fluid in the lungs) and heart attack.
Chokoleit had been in the show business for a long time and he accumulated a lot of friends. One of them if Filipino comedian Vice Ganda who posted a tribute for Chokoleit on Twitter.
Thank you Lord for giving me a chance to meet Chokoleit and become his friend. Im sad that we lost him. But happy that he’ll be in a much peaceful and happier place now with you. Thanks for everything Chokie. I love you!!! Rest well my friend.
On the official Facebook page of the Abra government called “Abra Province”, they posted the show where Chokoleit last performed before the comedian died. It was the Kawayan Festival 2019.
Chokoleit sang Rey Valera’s hit “Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko”. After that, he even joked about how the crowd might not get to see him again if he went out from the backstage. Watch Chokoleit’s last performance below.
