Alejandro Aranda (age 24) of Pomona, California sang “Under Pressure” by British rock band Queen during the Queen Night on American Idol 2019 (Season 17).
“Under Pressure” is a 1981 song originally recorded by Queen and British singer David Bowie. The song topped the UK Singles Chart, becoming Queen’s second number-one hit in their home country after 1975’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”. It peaked at No. 29 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1982.
Like his previous performances, Alejandro Aranda put a twist to the song and made it his own. American Idol 2019 judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan were all praises for Alejandro Aranda’s cover like before.
Alejandro Aranda was voted to the Top 6 of American Idol 2019. He will be performing with the other Top 6 contenders which include Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Laci Kaye Booth, Laine Hardy, Madison VanDenburg, and Wade Cota on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
