Laine Hardy (age 18) of Livingston, Lousiana sang “Fat Bottomed Girls” during the Queen Night on American Idol 2019 (Season 17)
“Fat Bottomed Girls” is one of Queen’s hit songs, reaching #24 on US Billboard Hot 100 when it was released. But due to the resurgence of Queen’s popularity after the biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, the song peaked at #19 on the US Hot Rock Songs (Billboard) in 2018.
Laine Hardy’s lively rendition of the Queen song impressed the American Idol Judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. Katy Perry was dancing to the tune all throughout Laine’s performance.
America has voted Laine Hardy to the Top 6 of American Idol 2019. Hardy will perform together with the other Top 6 contenders which include Alejandro Aranda, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Laci Kaye Booth, Madison VanDenburg and Wade Cota on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.

Luke Bryan
Katy’s giddy over here. You got her. Well, Laine you know, yes you are a country boy but you’ve got to think rock star anytime you’re onstage, always. You’ve got to take that rock star confidence and own that. And great job getting there without one. It was a great job.
Lionel Richie
The most important thing you have to remember, and Adam was correct, you are the head cheerleader, OK? If you are not pumped up, we can’t get there. And the thing you have to remember most of all is that your attitude, your delivery, if you don’t feel it, fake it. If you don’t feel it, fake it. And by the way, you felt it. It was a good job. Good job!
Katy Perry
My favorite thing that Luke has ever said is fake it until you make it, and then shake and bake it. And you faked it, you made it and you shaked and baked it.
After his amazing performance of Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls”, Laine Hardy moves on to the next round of American Idol 2019 since he was voted to the Top 6 of the competition.
