Miguel Ordon (age 24 ) from USA sang an amazing cover of “Weak” by American R&B vocal trio SWV on Idol Philippines 2019 Auditions.
Written and produced by Brian Alexander Morgan, “Weak” topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in July 1993 and the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for two weeks.
Idol Philippines 2019 judges Vice Ganda, Regine Velasquez, and Moira dela Torre initially commented that Miguel Ordon and judge James Reid look like brothers.
Miguel said he came to the Philippines because as a songwriter, he feels his songs deserve to be heard. He added that he really wants to pursue music especially in the Philippines, because he is much happier in the country because the people are really warm.
James Reid, who was originally from Australia, agreed and said, ” I can relate to you completely.”
After his performance of “Weak”, James Reid commented that Miguel Ordon is very talented. But James asked him to perform one of his original songs.
Miguel sang his own composition titled “Still”, which the judges appreciated very much, with Regine saying she was more impressed with the original song.
After praising Miguel Ordon for his talent, all of the judges voted “Yes” and gave him a Golden Ticket to Idol City, where the next level of Idol Philippines 2019 will be held.

Regine Velasquez said she was actually more impressed with the original song. She said she has always been amazed with songwriters because that’s another gift. “I think it’s beautiful,” she said.
Moira dela Torre
I love your voice. I love how you play the guitar and I love how you express yourself through your songs.
Vice Ganda said he likes it that Miguel’s nice talent and good looks are well-balanced. He said that Miguel is the type of performer who people would like to “jam” with. He said that whenever idols and big stars perform, people tend to sing with them and know their songs. Vice Ganda told Miguel he’s like one of those performers.
Yeah you have the look of a star for me. Just a bit more confidence, I think. You can make it really far in this show.
After giving him the Golden Ticket, judges had a laugh when Miguel said that his hair was styled that way because he looks like a girl when it’s not in a bun.
In sum, Miguel Ordon earned a Golden Ticket not only because of his amazing performance of SWV’s “Weak” but also because of his talent as a songwriter.
