Nicole Curran is the wife of the Golden State Warriors owner, Joe Lacob. Her video talking to Beyonce’s husband, Jay-Z, became viral as it looked like Beyonce changed her demeanor after Nicole Curran leaned over her to talk to Jay-Z.
The controversy of Nicole Curran invading Beyonce’s personal space became trending on social media. Some of Beyonce’s fans, the Beyhive, went on calling out the actions of Nicole Curran based on a short video clip that was shared by ESPN.
On the video, Nicole Curran was seen leaning over Beyonce, who was sitting in between Jay-Z and Nicole. Right after that, some people said that Beyonce’s grin turned into something more like a scowl. They said it looks like Beyonce wasn’t thrilled by Nicole Curran invading her personal space.
But here’s what really happened:
Nicole Curran: “What do you want?”
Jay-Z: “Vodka. Vodka. Hmm… Soda.”
Nicole Curran: “Vodka soda with lime?”
Jay-Z: “Yes, thanks.”
According to the senior writer at ESPN, Ramona Shelburne, Nicole Curran was so upset, she was in tears, over the incident. She said Nicole Curran only learned that her talking to Jay-Z caused a frenzy on social media when she got home, learning she’d been getting online death threats.
Nicole Curran apparently was only being a good host because she’s the one who invited Beyonce and Jay-Z to watch the game. She asked the couple if they wanted drinks.
Beyonce asked for water, while Jay-Z asked for vodka soda. Nicole Curran explained that it was so loud in the arena, she had to lean over Beyonce to ask Jay-Z if he wanted lime in his vodka soda.
There was no hostility. I was trying to be a good hostess. I’ve never experienced cyber bullying like this. I can’t believe our players go through this. That kids go through this.

Nicole Curran defended her leaning over Beyonce at the NBA Finals. She stated:
Listen Beehive [sic]. I respect Queen B. I love her! I talked to her husband twice tonight.
First, to take a drink order for them both when they arrived as they were our guests. Second, to explain why I gave his wife a rose from a fan.
All of this has been taken out of context. I am a happily married woman. Telling me to kill myself?????? Somehow I don’t think she would support this.
Meanwhile, Beyonce’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, posted on Instagram, a throwback photo of Beyonce and Jay-Z during their ‘On the Run II’ tour. Beyonce’s publicist asked fans to lead with love instead of hate. She captioned the image with:
