‘The Bachelorette’ 2019 (Season 15) is a week away from its finale, but aside from the drama surrounding Luke Parker, one of the show’s men is getting a lot of attention – Mike Johnson (aka Big Mike), a 31-year-old Air Force vet and portfolio manager from San Antonio, Texas.
Mike placed 6th in “The Bachelorette” 2019 and left the show on Week 7. But his weighty comments on the “Men Tell All” episode, especially ones directed at Luke Parker, left a lot of people craving for more.
Big Mike’s expression of support for Hannah Brown’s opinion that Fantasy Suites were not just being about the physical, also picked up some points. Hannah Brown even reciprocated by apologizing to Mike and telling him that he “deserves the best.”
With the show giving a lot of screen time to Mike Johnson in its latest episode, a lot are thinking if that could be an indication that Mike is being prepped as the next ‘Bachelor’.
Watch Mike’s exit from “The Bachelorette”:
The Bachelorette’s host, Chris Harrison, told the The Hollywood Reporter in the taping for the “Men Tell All” episode that Mike Johnson is “definitely in the mix” when it comes to choosing the lead for the upcoming 24th season of ‘The Bachelor’ (2020).
Praising Mike Johnson for his charm and maturity, Chris said that Mike would be a great candidate for the next ‘Bachelor’.
But, Chris also said that based on his experience with the show, people will also clamor for guys who don’t get to be picked by Hannah Brown in the “After The Final Rose” episodes. So the discussion and debate as to who leads the next Bachelor is usually done after the impact of the finale results had settled.
It must be recalled that Mike earned a group date rose in Episode 3 of ‘The Bachelorette’ Season 15 when he opened up about his ex’s miscarriage to Hannah Brown. His vulnerability at that time touched Hannah’s heart, and earned him a lot of fans and followers, too.
As “The Bachelorette” show progressed, Mike has been one of the better choices for Hannah. And though he may be out of the running, some fans have started a campaign to make him the star of the next ‘The Bachelor’. If that happens, Mike Johnson would be the franchise’s first black ‘Bachelor’. FYI, the first black ‘Bachelorette’ was Rachel Lindsay in the show’s 2017 edition.
