Steve Harvey’s daytime talk show, “Steve”, aired its finale on June 26, 2019.

It was reported back in May 2019 that the show will be canceled by NBC to give way for the American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson’s new show called “The Kelly Clarkson Show”, which is set to launch in September 2019.

According to Steve Harvey (who is currently the host of Family Feud), he was surprised by the cancellation of his “Steve” show. NBC didn’t talk to him about their plan, and he only learned about it after NBC announced the news.

I thought I was [going to stay with NBC], until they made an announcement a couple weeks ago that they wanted to give Kelly Clarkson the owned-and-operated NBC networks — that’s my slot.

I don’t know if it sold, it’s not selling like they thought, but I thought it would have been nice of them to come to me …

I’m just an old school guy, and I just thought that you’re supposed to just talk to people and just go, “Look, you’ve been good business for us. This is what we’re thinking of doing, are you okay with that?”

No, you just don’t put something in the paper and say, “I’m just going to make this move right here,” because it’s crazy.

On the “Steve” final episode, Steve Harvey said on his goodbye monologue:

I appreciate y’all coming today. This is a celebration. This is all about seven years coming to a close, but this is good … you’ve got to understand how it works.

See, your life ain’t nothing but a book. I happen to be 62 years old. I am in the middle of my 62nd chapter of the book that I’m writing. I’ve had some good chapters, had some bad chapters, had some chapters that lasted a little bit longer than I wanted [them] to.

That homeless chapter — way too long. That was three chapters long: I’m homeless, I’m still homeless — damn, I really am homeless!

I’ve got seven boys that I want you to meet. Today, my wife and I, our foundation and Omega Psi Phi fraternity, we’re sending seven African-American boys to the same school [Kent State University] I flunked out of.

So that’s my show today. The rest of it is just me saying whatever I want to say. Please pray for me!
