Contortionist dancer Marina Mazepa (age 22) from Ukraine performed a creepy scorpion-like dance to a song by Billie Eilish at the quarterfinals of America’s Got Talent 2019 (Season 14).
During her performance, Simon Cowell pressed the buzzer. He commented later that he found Marina’s act to be boring and that Marina lost the opportunity to do something special at the Dolby Theatre. Simon was booed by the live audience, most of whom earlier gave Marina a standing ovation.
Howie Mandel said, “One man’s boredom is another man’s dream. I’m happily married but I feel like I just cheated.” Before Howie can make any further remark, host Terry Crews wisely asked Gabrielle Union for her comments.
Gabrielle had to take a drink first because she said Marina left her thirsty. She said, “You’re like a video game come to life. You’re like the coolest best avatar. It was creepy, it was s**y, it was out of this world, it was dangerous, it was amazing!”
Julianne told Mazepa, “You are so weird and I love weird.” She said it looked like Mazepa unleashed a creature, and she thought that creature would eat that little stinker (pointing to Simon) over there. “I think you should have,” Julianne said.
