Singer and songwriter Joseph Allen (age 21) from Texas sang an original song titled “Mama” at the quarterfinals of America’s Got Talent 2019 (Season 14).
Joseph, who got the Golden Buzzer act from Howie Mandel, dedicated his song to his mother who was seated amongst the audience.
Howie Mandel and Gabrielle Union and the audience gave Joseph a standing ovation and said they loved his performance. Julianne Hough agreed and said that Joseph Allen shouldn’t compare himself with anybody because that will be the death of artistry.
Simon Cowell said that his favorite part of the performance was watching the reaction of Joseph’s mother. But Simon said that apart from those reactions, the song did nothing for him. He said Joseph’s original song during his audition was beautiful.
