Stepping on stage for the first time as the X Factor: Celebrity Winner, Megan McKenna sings ‘It Must Have Been Love’!
Megan McKenna is an English singer, businesswoman and television personality. After making appearances on Ex on the Beach (2015–2016), she received wider attention for appearing on Celebrity Big Brother (2016) and The Only Way Is Essex (2016–2017). She left the latter to launch her music career, releasing her debut album Story of Me in 2018. In 2019, she won The X Factor: Celebrity.
From October to November 2019, McKenna competed in the ITV series The X Factor: Celebrity. For her audition, she performed “Everything but You”, a song from Story of Me. On 30 November, she was crowned the winner of the competition with 46.3% of the final vote, winning a record deal with Syco.
The X Factor: Celebrity is a British celebrity special edition of The X Factor which premiered on 12 October 2019 on ITV. Simon Cowell judges alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh, with Dermot O’Leary presenting the series.
The format for the series was announced in 2019, after The X Factor was contracted until 2022. The celebrity lineup was announced on 30 September 2019. On 30 November, Megan McKenna won the series with 46.3% of the vote, with Max and Harvey finishing in second place.
The series was first reported in early 2019, as the regular series is being put on hiatus due to declining ratings. On 7 July 2019, Walsh spoke about the return of the series, stating, “I go to Los Angeles on Tuesday, I go to Simon’s house in Malibu, it’s me, Simon and Nicole, we’re doing the celebrity one.” On 22 October 2019, it was revealed that Vick Hope would host Xtra Bites on YouTube, each episode will be aired after each live show.
