It was announced in June 2019 that Alison Brie would star in the film “Horse Girl”, with Jeff Baena directing from a screenplay he wrote with Brie. Jay Duplass and Mark Duplass serve as executive producers under their Duplass Brothers Productions banner, with Netflix distributing.
Horse Girl will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27, 2020 and is scheduled to be released on February 7, 2020
American actress Alison Brie (age 37) will play the lead role of Sarah. Brie became known for her role as Annie Edison in the comedy series Community (2009–2015) and as Trudy Campbell in the drama series Mad Men (2007–2015). She also voices Diane Nguyen on the animated comedy series BoJack Horseman (2014–present). One of her most notable roles is that of Ruth Wilder in the comedy series GLOW (2017–present), for which she received nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – TV Series Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
Brie has also starred in films such as Scream 4 (2011), The Five-Year Engagement (2012), The Lego Movie (2014), Get Hard (2015), Sleeping with Other People (2015), How to Be Single (2016), The Little Hours (2017), The Disaster Artist (2017), and The Post (2017).
American actress and singer Debby Ryan (age 26) also stars alongside Brie in Horse Girl. Ryan started acting in theatres at the age of seven, and was later discovered in a nationwide search by Disney Channel. From 2008 to 2011, Ryan starred as Bailey Pickett on The Suite Life on Deck and appeared in the 2010 Disney Channel Original Movie 16 Wishes as Abby Jensen.
From 2011 to 2015, Ryan starred as the titular character on the Disney Channel TV series Jessie, and appeared in the 2012 television film Radio Rebel as Tara Adams. Since 2018, she has starred as Patty Bladell on the Netflix series Insatiable. Ryan also became popular in music by contributing vocals to the soundtracks of her Disney projects. She later formed the band The Never Ending in 2013, and toured with them as an opening act for the North American leg of Fifth Harmony’s Reflection Tour in 2015.
