The Corrupted is a British crime thriller directed by Ron Scalpello from a screenplay by Nick Moorcroft. The film stars Sam Claflin, Timothy Spall, Hugh Bonneville, Naomi Ackie, Cathal Pendred, Shaun Dooley, Charlie Murphy, Noel Clarke and David Hayman, and follows an ex-convict who tries to win back the trust of his family after losing everything to a local crime syndicate.

Sam Claflin is an English actor. He is known for portraying Philip Swift in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games film series (2013–2015), Alex Stewart in Love, Rosie (2014), Will Traynor in Me Before You (2016), and Oswald Mosley in the Peaky Blinders television series (2019).
Samuel George Claflin was born in Ipswich, Suffolk, the third boy of a family of four boys, to Mark, a finance officer, and Sue Claflin, née Clarke, a classroom assistant. He has two older brothers, Benjamin and Daniel, and a younger brother, Joseph (born 1989), who is also an actor. He grew up in Norwich, Norfolk.
As a child, he had an interest in football. He played throughout his childhood until he broke his ankle, an injury that he felt would prevent him from playing professionally. After some persuasion from his parents and a teacher with whom he’d made an impression during his high school play at Costessey High School, he pursued acting.
A member of the Norwich City School of Excellence, in 2003, he took up Performing Arts at Norwich City College. Claflin subsequently graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2009.
Timothy Spall is an English character actor and occasional presenter. He became a household name in the UK after appearing as Barry Spencer Taylor in the 1983 ITV comedy-drama series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.
Spall received critical acclaim for his performance in Secrets & Lies (1996), for which he was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Subsequently, he starred in many films, including Hamlet (1996), Nicholas Nickleby (2002), Enchanted (2007), The Damned United (2009), The King’s Speech (2010), Ginger and Rosa (2012), Denial (2016), and The Party (2017). He also gained international acclaim for his role as Peter Pettigrew in the Harry Potter films.
He has famously collaborated with director Mike Leigh, making six films together, including Home Sweet Home (1982), Life is Sweet (1990), Secrets & Lies (1996), Topsy-Turvy (1999), All or Nothing (2002), and Mr. Turner (2014). In 2019 he appeared as Lord Arthur Wallington in the acclaimed 6-part BBC Cold War drama “Summer of Rockets”. He starred in the television documentary Timothy Spall: …at Sea (2010–2012) and in 2014 won the Best Actor award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival for portraying J. M. W. Turner in Mike Leigh’s biographical film Mr. Turner.
