On February 11, 2019, it was announced that a sequel for Zombies went into production, with returning stars, director, and writers. The film sequel Zombies 2 began production in the spring. On May 21, 2019, it was announced that Pearce Joza, Chandler Kinney, and Ariel Martin were cast in the film. In addition, Kylee Russell, Trevor Tordjman, Carla Jeffery, James Godfrey, and Kingston Foster are reprising their roles from the first film. The film is written by David Light and Joseph Raso, directed by Paul Hoen, and executive produced by Anna Gerb, Paul Hoen, and Joseph Raso. Production on the film began on May 27, 2019, and wrapped in Toronto on July 15, 2019
American actor Milo Manheim (age 18) is best known for his starring role as Zed in the first installment of Zombies and for having finished in second place on season 27 of Dancing with the Stars (2018). Manheim began acting at the age of six, in a local after-school program in Culver City. Since 2008, he starred in 20 different musicals with Liza Monjauze Productions. In 2009, he appeared in a guest appearance on the CBS television series Ghost Whisperer alongside his mother.
Just before landing the lead role in Zombies, Manheim won “Best Leading Actor” at the 2017 New York Musical Theatre Festival for his role in “Generation Me”. When the sequel to Zombies was announced in February 2019, Mannheim confirmed that he will reprise his role as Zed, through a video he posted on Instagram.
Starring opposite Milo Manheim in Zombies 2 is American actress Meg Donnelly (age 19), who will also reprise her role as Addison. Aside from her role in the Zombies franchise, Manheim is also known for her roles as Ash in the Netflix comedy series Team Toon and Taylor Otto in the ABC sitcom American Housewife. She played the role Mary in the theatrical workshop of Trevor: The Musical, and was the understudy for the role of Louisa von Trapp in the NBC TV special The Sound of Music Live!.
Donnelly has also appeared in several episodes of ABC’s What Would You Do?, and was on Sesame Street and Celebrity Ghost Stories. She appeared in the feature film The Broken Ones and released her first single, “Smile” on August 5, 2018. On March 1, 2019, Donnelly released her second single, “Digital Love”.
