9-1-1: Lone Star is an American procedural TV series created for Fox by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear. The series is a spin-off of the television series 9-1-1, and was ordered by Fox in May 2019. It premiered on January 19, 2020.
Set in Texas, 9-1-1: Lone Star stars Rob Lowe as a sophisticated New York firefighter who, along with his son TK, relocates to Austin. There, he tries to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in his own life.
In May, 2019, it was announced Rob Lowe had been cast in the lead role of the series. On September 11, 2019, Liv Tyler was announced to star opposite of Lowe. Jim Parrack joined the cast on September 18, 2019. Two days later, Ronen Rubinstein and Sierra McClain were announced to have joined the cast. On September 23, 2019, Natacha Karam, Brian Michael Smith, Rafael Silva, and Julian Works joined the cast.
Rob Lowe portrays firefighter captain Owen Strand, who is diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of the series as a result of being a first responder on 9/11. Lowe is an American actor, producer, and director. He is the recipient of two Screen Actors Guild Awards and has been nominated for six Golden Globes Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award.
Lowe made his acting debut at the age of 15 with ABC’s sitcom A New Kind of Family (1979–1980). Following numerous television roles in the early 1980s, he came to prominence as a teen idol and member of the Brat Pack with roles in movies like The Outsiders (1983), Class (1983), The Hotel New Hampshire (1984), Oxford Blues (1984), St. Elmo’s Fire (1985), About Last Night (1986), and Square Dance (1987). The success of these films established him as a Hollywood star.
Liv Tyler plays the role of Michelle Blake, a paramedic, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) captain. Tyler is an American actress, producer, singer and former model. She is best known for her portrayal of Arwen Undómiel in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–03).
Tyler began a career in modeling at age 14 and later decided to focus on acting. She made her film debut in Silent Fall (1994) and went on to achieve critical recognition with starring roles in Heavy, Empire Records (both 1995), That Thing You Do!, and Stealing Beauty in 1996. She then appeared in films such as Inventing the Abbotts (1997), Armageddon (1998), Cookie’s Fortune, Onegin (both 1999), Dr. T & the Women (2000), and One Night at McCool’s (2001).
