Nancy Drew is an American mystery drama TV series based on the titular character of a mystery book series that debuted on October 9, 2019. It is the third Nancy Drew TV series, following The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries (1977–1979) and a 1995 Canadian-American version. In October 2019, The CW picked up the series for a full season of 22 episodes.
The series follows the adventures of 18-year-old Nancy Drew. After her college plans are put on hold, Nancy finds herself involved in a ghostly mystery when she and her four friends are witnesses (and suspects) to a murder, and team up to find the person responsible.
American actress and singer Kennedy McMann (age 23) stars as Nancy Drew, a brilliant former teenage detective whose sense of self used to come from solving mysteries, but who finds herself reluctantly drawn into a homicide case connected to her family. McMann was born in Holland, MI and completed her BFA in Acting from Carnegie Mellon University in 2018. She is known for her work on the television show “Gone” opposite Chris Noth and Leven Rambin.
Leah Lewis (age 22) plays the role of Georgia “George” Fan, Nancy’s old nemesis from high school and her boss at the local diner, The Bayside Claw. Lewis appeared in Charmed (2018) and Station 19 (2018) prior to Nancy Drew.
British-Iranian actress and model Maddison Jaizani stars as Bess Marvin, a rich city girl with a mysterious past who works as a waitress with Nancy at The Bayside Claw. Jaizani is known for portraying Sophie de Clermont on Canal+ television series Versailles and Odessa in the television series Into the Badlands. Her TV debut was portraying teenage Leila in the 2014 episode “State of Emergency” of Tyrant.
Tunji Kasim plays the role of Ned “Nick” Nickerson, a former teenage convict and football player who now runs an auto repair shop and is Nancy’s secret boyfriend. Kasim is a Scottish actor best known for his role as Joe Bailey in Nearly Famous and as art teacher Hugo Scott, in Shetland. He was nominated for an Ian Charleson Awards drama award for Julius Caesar (with the RSC) in 2009. Kasim studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, which is now called Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Also included in the cast are Alex Saxon as Ace, the zen and amiable dishwasher/cook at The Bayside Claw with a secret to hide and Alvina August as Det. Karen Hart, an investigator with the Horseshoe Bay police department who is dating Nancy’s father Carson. Riley Smith stars as Ryan Hudson, a handsome and affluent socialite who is the husband of murder victim Tiffany Hudson. Scott Wolf plays the role of Carson Drew, a criminal defense attorney and Nancy’s widowed father, whose attempts to connect with Nancy since her mother’s death have failed.
