Ex junkie Daniel Léger (Antoine Olivier Pilon) gets involved in a drug deal with the wrong people for the wrong reasons. When the deal goes sour, Daniel gets thrown into a Thai prison and slapped with a 100-year sentence. While he tries to survive being jailed in Bangkok, news of his conviction captures the attention of an investigative reporter named Victor Malarek (Josh Hartnett), who decides to go after the shady undercover cops responsible for wrongly accusing Daniel.
This movie is inspired by real events that took place in 1989 and was directed by award-winning Canadian film director and cinematographer Daniel Roby.

American actor and movie producer Josh Hartnett (age 41) plays the role of journalist Victor Malarek. Hartnett first became known in 1997 for his role as Michael Fitzgerald in the TV crime drama series Cracker. His feature film debut was in the slasher film Halloween H20: 20 Years Later in 1998. This was followed by teen roles in films such as The Faculty (1998) and The Virgin Suicides (1999). Hartnett gained more recognition via starring roles in Pearl Harbor, “O”, “Black Hawk Down”, 40 Days and 40 Nights, and Lucky Number Slevin (2006).
Hartnett also starred in Brian De Palma’s The Black Dahlia (2006). This was followed by starring roles in Champ (2007), 30 Days of Night (2007) and I Come with the Rain (2009). From 2014 to 2016, he starred as Ethan Chandler in the horror TV series Penny Dreadful, for which he was nominated for a Fangoria Chainsaw Award.
French-Canadian actor Antoine Olivier Pilon (age 22) plays the role of Daniel Léger. Pilon landed his first job playing in an ad on the French Canadian RDS sports channel in 2009 when he was 12. In 2010, he played the lead role of Frisson in Frisson des collines followed by roles in Just for Laughs: Gags, and in Xavier Dolan’s film Mommy, a film which won the Jury Prize at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Pilon was named one of the best actors under the age of twenty by IndieWire.
Playing the role of Picker is American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer Jim Gaffigan (age 53). He was raised in Chesterton, Indiana and is also regarded as a “clean” comic, using little profanity in his routines. He has had several successful comedy specials, including Mr. Universe, Obsessed, and Cinco, all three of which received Grammy nominations.
Gaffigan co-created and starred in a TV Land television series based on his life called The Jim Gaffigan Show. In 2018, he portrayed Paul Markham in the biographical drama Chappaquiddick, starring Jason Clarke and Kate Mara, to positive reviews. Gaffigan next took on the lead role in American Dreamer (2019). His performance was very well received by critics, with the Chicago Sun-Times review calling it “a career-best dramatic performance” by Gaffigan.
