Miss Monster sang a cover of “You Don’t Own Me” during Week 2 (February 12, 2020) of The Masked Singer Season 3 2020 in front of the judges panel composed of Ken Jeong, Jenny Mccarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke including guest panelist Leah Remini.
“You Don’t Own Me” is a song written by Philadelphia songwriters John Madara and David White and recorded by Lesley Gore in 1963, when Gore was 17 years old. The song, which peaked at Number 2 at the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1964 was Gore’s second most successful recording and her last top-ten single. On November 27, 2016, the Grammy Hall of Fame announced its induction.
Miss Monster was unmasked for the night since she was voted out. Once it was revealed who she was, the judges and the audience cheered. Who is Miss Monster? A lot of people online guessed it right when they said Miss Monster is singer Chaka Khan. Among the judges, Nicole Scherzinger got it right. Host Nick Cannon on the other hand, said that he knew it the whole time when he heard the voice and she hit the notes. Here’s another set of clues about Miss Monster before she was finally unmasked.
Robin Thicke said Chaka Khan did not hit some of her signature notes, to which Leah Remini agreed. Nicole said Chaka were hitting the notes tonight and said that she knew who she was the moment she heard that “twang”. Nicole also said she has studied Chaka Khan’s voice so much and is deeply inspired by her.
Clues explained in Miss Monster’s package include the following: the Locker with the #10 in is a clue for Chaka Khan’s 10 Grammy Awards; the Queen chess piece hints to Chaka’s nickname “Queen of Funk”; and the white socks and teddy bear are clues to her hometown, Chicago.

Khan received public attention for her vocals and image and is known as the “Queen of Funk”. She was the first R&B artist to have a crossover hit featuring a rapper, with “I Feel for You” in 1984. She has sold an estimated 70 million records worldwide and in 2016, Billboard magazine ranked her as the 65th most successful dance artist of all time. She was ranked at number 17 in VH1’s original list of the 100 Greatest Women of Rock & Roll and has been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice.
In the course of her solo career, Khan has achieved three gold singles, three gold albums and one platinum album with I Feel for You. With Rufus, she achieved four gold singles, four gold albums, and two platinum albums. She has collaborated with Ry Cooder, Robert Palmer, Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Guru, Chicago, De la Soul, Mary J. Blige, among others.

Blige).
The Masked Singer is an American reality singing competition TV series and is part of the Masked Singer franchise featuring celebrities in head-to-toe costumes and face masks which conceal their identities from other contestants, panelists, and an audience. It premiered on Fox on January 2, 2019, and is hosted by Nick Cannon. On January 30, 2019, Fox announced it had renewed the series for a second season.
