Banana Split is Benjamin Kasulke’s feature directorial debut after making one short previously. He worked as the cinematographer on several indie features, including Safety Not Guaranteed and Laggies previously.
American actress, writer, and director Hannah Marks (age 26) portrays April in the movie. Marks played Amanda Brotzman on the TV series Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. Her film credits include Accepted, The Amazing Spider-Man, After Everything, Anesthesia, and Daniel Isn’t Real. She is the director for an upcoming film adaptation of the John Green novel, Turtles All the Way Down.
Banana Split premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2018, and was also shown at the Newport Beach and Seattle Film Festivals last year.
On review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, Banana Split holds an approval rating of 100%, based on 6 reviews.
Vertical Entertainment will debut Banana Split in select US theaters and on VOD starting March 27, 2020.
