One-chair turner Jacob Daniel Murphy (age 27) and 4-chair-turner Toneisha Harris (age 44) of Team Blake Shelton sang “Good as Hell” by American singer and rapper Lizzo during The Battles round on The Voice 2020 (Season 18).

“Good as Hell” was released in October 2016 as the lead single from Lizzo’s debut extended play Coconut Oil. It was re-released in 2019 as a radio single, where it became a sleeper hit, and peaked at number three on Billboard Hot 100. In March 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, Daily Houston Magazine listed this song at #1 in their “Top 10 Songs to Listen to During Quarantine.”

The Voice judges Nick Jonas, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton gave Jacob and Toneisha a standing ovation for their amazing performance. When it came to choosing the winner of the battle, Nick and John leaned more towards Toneisha while Kelly thought that both contestants have their own admirable qualities.

Coach Blake Shelton thought that Toneisha is phenomenal but said the battle was great because of Jacob controlling the stage and the audience.

Kelly Clarkson said she was up on her feet dancing from the very beginning. She said, “Jacob, you are a firecracker. Like, I had no idea. He told Toneisha, “It’s phenomenal, you know, to be able to point at the note you’re singing and we all go, ‘Oh yeah I can hear it now, ’cause you’re pointing at it.’ You truly are a phenomenon.” To Jacob, Blake commented, “The way you controlled the stage and you controlled the audience, you’re the reason that this is a great battle. It’s you.”
