Jon Mullins (age 32) from Nashville, Tennessee sang an amazing cover of “Don’t Give Up on Me” by American singer-songwriter Andy Grammer during the Blind Auditions round of The Voice 2020 (Season 18).
“Don’t Give Up on Me” is from the soundtrack of the film Five Feet Apart and is also the lead single from Andy Grammer’s fourth studio album Naive, released in July 2019. The song peaked at number 12 on Billboard’s Adult Top 40.
Blake Shelton was the only The Voice coach/judge who turned his chair for Jon Mullins, and he was shocked when Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Nick Jonas did not turn their chairs.
Blake shouted, “What! What! I got you!” He said, “This is the greatest day of my coaching career on The Voice. It’s unbelievable!”

Kelly Clarkson said she had been in Nashville and said they probably didn’t know what to do with Jon. “That voice is big!” She said that with his range, he could do Broadway.” Kelly told him he’s very gifted and she’s glad he’s on the show.
Blake said “It’s almost like somebody that could win The Voice.”
Nick Jonas said Jon Mullins has an enormous voice that fills up the room and it’s exciting to listen to. He said if there is an opportunity to steal Jon later, he’s going to snatch him right up.
John Legend congratulated Jon and asked him if he writes and tries to make it as a musician in Nashville. Jon Mullins said he is a full-time musician and do write his own songs. He became emotional when he said he helps his wife with her heartbreaking and crazy journey in the past 3 years or so. Jon almost broke down and said, “Just being here and being on the team of the King, it just literally…I’m just excited to be here.”
Kelly reacted to the “King” term for Blake, saying she’s out. John Legend said Blake is a former king and they call him King Emeritus.
