Aaron Frith (age 21), a handsome garden centre worker, puts a whole new spin on Britney Spears‘ “Toxic” with his swinging rendition during the Auditions round on Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14).
Growing up with the music of Frank Sinatra courtesy of his Dad, and also loving the music of Michael Buble, Aaron said he had always been singing because it’s his dream to perform worldwide.
And his dream might just come true, from the way people responded to his audition. Aaron’s performance was rewarded by a standing ovation from all BGT judges and most of the audience.
David Walliams said Aaron has a winning personality and a super voice. Alesha Dixon likened his voice to smooth, red wine. Amanda Holden thinks he has so much potential. Simon Cowell said Aaron has the work ethic and likeability factor and could do well in the competition.

David Walliams, who seemed smitten with Aaron, said there’s nothing not to like about him “I mean there’s just you’re very winning personality. Then you’ve got a super voice. There’s a little bit of nerves I think maybe you could have a little more experience but the most important thing is people really like you. And I think you’re gonna go far,” he said.
Alesha Dixon likened Aaron’s voice to a smooth red wine, “just very velvety, it’s gorgeous,” she said. “I just loved it, I love your vibe,” Alesha concluded.
Amanda Holden commented, “I loved it and there is so much potential in you and I think that singing means a lot to you more than we probably know so you did a very good audition. Well done.”
Simon Cowell said, “The reality is, interestingly since that era, one artist in the world has made a career out of this, which is Michael Buble. So what seems easy is really, really hard. I think what you have to do is you have to go back into the days when artists like the Rat Pack were successful and why they were successful because they had so much style and so much charisma. And that’s what you’ve got to get together if you’re going to make it through to the finals. But you’ve got the work ethic, you’ve definitely got the likeability factor, you could do well.”
All of the judges voted “Yes” to Aaron Frith, advancing him to the next round of the competition.
Britain’s Got Talent (aka BGT) is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (also known as Ant and Dec), and produced by both Thames (formerly Talkback Thames) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year. The show premiered on June 9, 2007 following the success of America’s Got Talent the previous year.
Every year, contestants of any age can audition for the contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate. Auditionees seek to impress a panel of judges – at present, consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams – in order to secure a place in the live rounds of BGT. The winner gets a cash prize and a place within that year’s performances for the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family.
On average, Britain’s Got Talent draws 9.9 million viewers per series. A spin-off titled Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, featuring the same judges and hosts, was later produced and broadcast in 2019, following the success of the American edition’s spin-off America’s Got Talent: The Champions. Britain’s Got Talent is contracted to run until 2024.
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14) will air in two parts, the first in April 2020 with pre-recorded audition episodes, while the second containing the live rounds to be aired at a later date. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government.
