Singing choir Sign Along With Us gave a moving performance of “This Is Me” during the Auditions round on Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) 2020 (Season 14).
“This Is Me” is a song performed by Keala Settle for the film The Greatest Showman. It was released on October 26, 2017 and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song at the 75th Golden Globe Awards. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 90th Academy Awards and later nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
The performance of Sign Along With Us brought most of the audience and also judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon to tears. Simon Cowell was smiling contentedly throughout the whole performance while David Walliams was so impressed that he decided to press the Golden Buzzer for the choir, sending them straight to the semi-finals.

Watch as Christian, big sister Jade and their whole choir take to the BGT stage in a moving performance which really shows what it means to be themselves.
Amanda Holden: “That song is such an anthem for people who maybe don’t feel part of the world or part of anything. And I just found it really really moving. It was absolutely brilliant.”
Alesha Dixon: “I genuinely can’t find the words, (someone shouted “Amazing!” from the audience) and Christian you are an absolute little star so thank you.”
Simon Cowell: “I have to confess I have a friend of mine in this choir – Ella. We’ve met at the Pride of Britain and I heard Ella sing and I said, ‘I have a feeling one day you’re gonna be auditioning on one of our shows’ and guess what, you’re here. And you’re saying this is me and I’m thinking you are us because you define what this show should be all about. This is an audition I will never ever forget.”
David Walliams: “Every one of you gave everything to this performance. An amazing positive message for out there and all I can say is…” David then stood up and pressed the Golden Buzzer.
Britain’s Got Talent (aka BGT) is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (also known as Ant & Dec), and produced by both Thames (formerly Talkback Thames) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year. The show premiered on June 9, 2007 following the success of America’s Got Talent the previous year.
Every year, contestants of any age can audition for the contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate. Auditionees seek to impress a panel of judges – at present, consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams – in order to secure a place in the live rounds of BGT. The winner gets a cash prize and a place within that year’s performances for the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family.
On average, Britain’s Got Talent draws 9.9 million viewers per series. A spin-off titled Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, featuring the same judges and hosts, was later produced and broadcast in 2019, following the success of the American edition’s spin-off America’s Got Talent: The Champions. Britain’s Got Talent is contracted to run until 2024.
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14) will air in two parts, the first in April 2020 with pre-recorded audition episodes, while the second containing the live rounds to be aired at a later date. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government.
