Capone is an American biographical crime film written, directed and edited by Josh Trank, with Tom Hardy starring as the notorious gangster Al Capone. The film, which was formerly titled as Fonzo, centers on the life of Capone after his 11-year sentence at the United States Penitentiary, Atlanta as he suffers from syphilis.

Capone is scheduled to be released through video on demand on May 12, 2020, by Vertical Entertainment.
It was announced in October 2016 that Tom Hardy would star as Al Capone in the movie Fonzo (later retitled to Capone), which would be directed, written and edited by Josh Trank.
Filming was initially set to commence in the summer of 2017, with Hardy stating it would be released sometime in 2018. But Hardy instead ended up filming the blockbuster Venom in 2017. In March 2018, Hardy announced that Fonzo will be his next project. Later that month, Linda Cardellini, Matt Dillon, Kyle MacLachlan, Kathrine Narducci, Jack Lowden, Noel Fisher and Tilda Del Toro joined the cast of Capone, while filming began on April 2 in New Orleans. On April 15, 2020, the trailer was released with its new title, Capone.
Tom Hardy (age 42) is an English actor and producer who made his film debut in Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down (2001). Since then he has appeared in several notable films including Star Trek: Nemesis (2002), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), Locke (2013), and The Revenant (2015), for which he received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has appeared in three Christopher Nolan films, namely Inception (2010), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and Dunkirk (2017). He is best known as Eddie Brock / Venom in the 2018 anti-hero film Venom.
