A family struggles for survival in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster. After a comet dubbed as Clarke’s Planet Killer pummels Earth, Jeff (Gerard Butler) tries to bring his family to what appears to be the safest place in the world – Greenland. With so many obstacles along the way, Jeff has to get his family to the bunkers in Greenland before the comet’s biggest fragment hits in less than 24 hours.
Greenland is an upcoming American disaster thriller film, directed by Ric Roman Waugh from a screenplay by Waugh, Chris Sparling and Mitchell LaFortune. It stars Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, Scott Glenn, Andrew Bachelor and David Denman.

In May 2018, Chris Evans joined the cast of Greenland, with Neill Blomkamp directing from a screenplay by Chris Sparling. In February 2019, it was announced Blomkamp would no longer direct the film. That same month, it was announced Ric Roman Waugh would direct the film, with Gerard Butler joining the cast of the film, replacing Blomkamp and Evans respectively. Evans and Blomkamp reportedly backed out due to conflict in schedules.
Aside from replacing Evans in the lead role, Butler also joined as a producer under his G-Base banner. In June 2019, Morena Baccarin joined the cast of the film. Scott Glenn, Andrew Bachelor, Roger Dale Floyd and David Denman joined the cast of the film thereafter.
In March 2019, STX Entertainment acquired distribution rights to Greenland. It is scheduled to be released on June 12, 2020.
