“That’s Life” was first recorded in 1963 by Marion Montgomery, but its most famous version is by Frank Sinatra, released on his 1966 album of the same name. Sinatra’s version reached the fourth spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The song was subsequently recorded by several artists including Aretha Franklin, James Booker, Shirley Bassey, James Brown, Van Morrison, David Lee Roth, Michael Bolton, Michael Bublé, Russell Watson, Deana Martin and Holt McCallany. Sinatra’s version was most recently featured in The 2019 film Joker.
Alesha Dixon said she thoroughly enjoyed Dave and Dean’s performance. “Brilliant song choice. Your vocals are fantastic. Love the fact that you’re there, doing this together. It was perfect, well done,” she said.
Amanda Holden said the song was like a sort of biography for David. She continued, “You’ve got your son by your side and you’re on this stage in front of all these people, and you smashed it Dave and Dean.”
Simon Cowell compared Dave and Dean to a hot mug of chocolate that one needs on certain days. “I think you have a great dad, and you have a great son. Your relationship is amazing, it just made me feel good, I needed that.”
Britain’s Got Talent (aka BGT) is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (also known as Ant and Dec), and produced by both Thames (formerly Talkback Thames) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year. The show premiered on June 9, 2007 following the success of America’s Got Talent the previous year.
Every year, contestants of any age can audition for the contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate. Auditionees seek to impress a panel of judges – at present, consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams – in order to secure a place in the live rounds of BGT. The winner gets a cash prize and a place within that year’s performances for the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family.
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14) will air in two parts, the first in April 2020 with pre-recorded audition episodes, while the second containing the live rounds to be aired at a later date. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government.
