Imen Siar (age 20) performed “Scars to Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara during the Auditions round on Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Series 14).
The lovely Imen said that she started singing when she was about 3 or 4 years old. What she likes most about singing is that she can feel “sorts of freedom” when she’s doing it. Her father does not know that she’s auditioning for BGT and does not know how seriously she wants to sing. Imen hopes he will understand and support her and that with the approval of the judges and the audience, she will show her father that singing is what she wants to do in her life.
Onstage, Imen said she joined Britain’s Got Talent because it’s one of the biggest platforms and that she’s been following it since she was a little kid. She also dreams of inspiring Muslim girls in her community.
Imen’s rendition of Alessia’s hit song impressed the audience and the BGT judges, who eventually gave her 4 YES votes, advancing her to the next round of the competition.

It peaked at number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the US Adult Contemporary, US Adult Top 40, US Dance/Mix Show Airplay, and US Mainstream Top 40 charts.”
Judges Comments:
Alesha Dixon said, “I know this is a big deal. This means more than you can express right now but believe me we felt it. We felt it within the way you interpreted the song and you did it such justice. I love this humility about you, it’s gorgeous. So, well done.”
David Walliams said that Imen has a beautiful voice. “You’ve got one of those voices that really draws you in, makes you listen to every lyric. That was a very special performance. I think you did yourself so proud today.”
Amanda Holden commented, “I just love you because I just think when you came on the stage you’re so positive and optimistic and gorgeous and you confidently sang that song. So, congratulations because it was perfect.”
After saying right after Imen’s performance that she made the song her own, Simon Cowell had more positive things to say about Imen. He said Imen has a great energy about her and she’s very humble. “It’s gonna be one of these auditions which I’m gonna remember. And actually, I do believe there’s more to come from you, I really do. I really like you.”
Britain’s Got Talent (aka BGT) is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (also known as Ant and Dec), and produced by both Thames (formerly Talkback Thames) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year. The show premiered on June 9, 2007 following the success of America’s Got Talent the previous year.
Every year, contestants of any age can audition for the contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate. Auditionees seek to impress a panel of judges – at present, consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams – in order to secure a place in the live rounds of BGT. The winner gets a cash prize and a place within that year’s performances for the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family.
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14) will air in two parts, the first in April 2020 with pre-recorded audition episodes, while the second containing the live rounds to be aired at a later date. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government.
