Sirine Jahangir, a blind 14-year-old singer from North London, performed “Salvation” by Gabrielle Aplin during the Auditions round on Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14).
The talented schoolgirl started losing her sight at age five and became totally blind at age nine, according to The Sun. But her predicament didn’t deter her from pursuing music. Before she performed, Sirine said, “Music is my vision and that’s just what I live by and music is my thing.”
Sirine captivated everyone with her beautiful rendition of Aplin’s song. The audience and all the judges gave her a standing ovation.
For her amazing performance, Sirine got 4 yes votes from the judges and advanced to the next round of Britain’s Got Talent.

David Walliams told Sirine, “Well done. What you couldn’t see was the whole of the Palladium on their feet applauding you because they loved that.”
Alesha Dixon said her heart is just melted. She said that Sirine is so nervous but it’s completely understandable because it’s a massive deal and a massive stage. “You sang beautifully,” Alesha told Sirine.
Amanda Holden found the entire audition so poignant. “You’re just so beautiful and vivacious, you kind of just exude lightness. It was just brilliant.”
Simon Cowell asked is Sirine was nervous because she might get bad comments and if people have criticized her in the past.
Sirene said she was only in school performances before. BGT is something completely new and being able to sing right now is such a big opportunity and she does not want to waste it.
Simon Cowell was first to vote Yes, and the other judges followed with their “Yes” votes.
“Salvation” is the fifth single from Gabrielle Aplin’s debut studio album English Rain (2013). The song peaked to number 122 on the UK Singles Chart, and also peaked to number 60 in Australia. The song was featured in the second trailer to the 2015 animated movie The Little Prince.
Britain’s Got Talent (aka BGT) is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. It is hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (also known as Ant and Dec), and produced by both Thames (formerly Talkback Thames) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year. The show premiered on June 9, 2007 following the success of America’s Got Talent the previous year.
Every year, contestants of any age can audition for the contest with whatever talent they wish to demonstrate. Auditionees seek to impress a panel of judges – at present, consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams – in order to secure a place in the live rounds of BGT. The winner gets a cash prize and a place within that year’s performances for the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family.
Britain’s Got Talent 2020 (Season 14) will air in two parts, the first in April 2020 with pre-recorded audition episodes, while the second containing the live rounds to be aired at a later date. The series was split into two parts because of the Covid-19 pandemic or coronavirus outbreak and the resulting lockdown issued by the British government.
