Kitty performed “Back to Black” by Amy Winehouse during the Quarter Finals of The Masked Singer 2020 (Season 3).
The Masked Singer judges/panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and guest panelist Jeff Dye, were all impressed with Kitty’s performance. But Kitty got the lowest number of votes and had to be unmasked and head home.
Before Kitty was unmasked, the panel made their final guesses. Nicole said she thinks Kitty is Vanessa Hudgens, while Jeff said she could either be Mary Kate or Ashley Olsen. Robin said Kitty is Ashley Tisdale, Ken’s guess was Anna Kendrick, and Jenny guessed Lea Michele.
None of them got it right but most fans of The Masked Singer online nailed it. So who is Kitty?
The celebrity behind the Kitty Mask is none other than American classical crossover singer and actress Jackie Evancho (age 20).

Before Kitty’s identity was revealed, a new video with a set of clues was presented.
Jackie Evancho gained wide recognition with her 2nd-place finish in America’s Got Talent Season 5, when she just 10 years old. She is the youngest top-10 debut artist in US history, the youngest solo artist ever to go platinum in the US and the youngest person ever to give a solo concert at Lincoln Center in New York City as part of her first concert tour.
Since 2009, Jackie has issued a platinum-selling EP and eight albums, including three Billboard 200 top 10 debuts. She has also been the subject of three solo PBS concert specials.
Jackie said she joined The Masked Singer because she wanted to show a different side of herself, saying she had been stuck in the stereotype of a 10-year-old girl. Her experience on The Masked Singer gave her a chance to break out of that. She thanked the panelists because without them, she doesn’t think she would have discovered where she’ll take her career and who she wants to represent herself at in the future.
The clues to Jackie’s identity were explained during her reveal. The pope hat and Vatican are clues to her performance for Pope Francis on his U.S. visit. The Christmas clues signify Jackie’s best-selling albums “Someday at Christmas” and “Heavenly Christmas”. Kitty’s reference to Robert Redford is a hint to the film “The Company You Keep”, in which Jackie played the role of his daughter.
In her interview after the reveal, Jackie said she’s proud of herself, something she haven’t felt in a long time. She said that singing with a mask, there’s no assumption of who she is, so she could go onstage and do whatever she wanted. “The minute I put that Kitty Mask on, it was just instant diva. Not because I’m a diva but because I could become the character. And I wouldn’t be judged on what I did on that stage.”
Before The Masked Singer, Jackie said she was in a spot in her life where she didn’t know if she was courageous enough “to get through this block in the business without being unscathed.” She added, “This process has shown me a path that I can go through to get to what I want. It was really, really freeing to not have all these, you know, stigmas placed on me, following me into this competition. And it was nice to have that armor.”
She said that hearing the guesses of the panelists. she got more and more flattered and honored. “It showed me that I do have the potential to be what I’ve always wanted to be. It really confirmed what I’m meant to be to me.”
Jackie said that before The Masked Singer she had to play a role that people were used to seeing – super sweet, innocent, high squeaky-voiced little girl with minimal makeup who doesn’t grow up ever. “The whole part has changed. And it was very tiring and almost painful to carry around my old self all the time, when there was so much more there.” Jackie said that as she gets older, she’s learning that “authenticity is really just the best way to go through life without caring about people’s opinions.” Because, she said at the end of the day, one can always say, “I was honest with myself.”
Kitty said she was inspired by the costume because it’s so gorgeous. Saying goodbye to her Kitty Mask, Jackie became emotional and said, “You helped me through so much stuff. And you taught me how to love myself more. So thank you.” Hugging her Kitty Mask tighter, she commented, “This feels so stupid, but not.”
