Allegra Miles (age 16) performs “Overjoyed” by Stevie Wonder during the Top 9 Performances on the semi-finals of The Voice 2020 (Season 18).
John Legend said “Overjoyed” is not an easy song because the key moves around a lot. “But the musical ability that you showed moving through the different modulations of the song, modifying the melody the way you did, it shows so much maturity. And then you also have an amazing tone, that was an all-star performance. Very, very , very strong.”
Coach Nick Jonas said Allegra gave one of her best performances yet on the show and showed the world who she is and what she can do and that he’s proud of her.
Allegra was Nick’s choice to be one of the 9 semi-finalists in the competition. Results of the Top 9 Performances will be announced on May 12, 2020. Five artists will advance to the finale.

Allegra Miles Performs Stevie Wonder’s “Overjoyed” – The Voice Top 9 Performances 2020
“Overjoyed” is from Stevie Wonder’s 1985 album In Square Circle. The single peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in early 1986, remaining in the Top 40 for six weeks. In addition, “Overjoyed” was a No. 1 hit on the adult contemporary chart.
Season 18 of The Voice premiered at 8PM on February 24, 2020 on NBC and will air Mondays at 8 PM. John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their third, fifth and eighteenth seasons, respectively. Nick Jonas joined the panel as a new coach, replacing Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his eighteenth season as host.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, production has done some adjustments. For the first time ever, there will be only three weeks of Live Shows: the Playoffs, the Semi-Final, and the Finale, compared to six weeks of Live Shows in Season 17.
The three weeks of live shows will also air as lives done at each contestant’s and coach’s home.
As to the voting system, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists and artists who receive the fewest votes will be eligible for the “Instant Save”. America will then save their favorite performer by voting on “The Voice” app (available on iOS and Android) or NBC.com. The artists with the fewest number of votes will be “sent home” or eliminated each week.
