Toneisha Harris (age 44) from Roswell, Georgia performed “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion during the Top 9 Performances on the semi-finals of The Voice 2020 (Season 18).
Kelly Clarkson was so impressed with Toneisha’s performance and wished Toneisha could honor her by coming to her Vegas 2021 show and just take the stage over by singing that song by Celine Dion. Kelly said she wants people to hear how big Toneisha made the song. She said, “I feel like You couldn’t even hear how big you epically got. It was incredible. You are an incredibly gifted vocalist. So good.”
Toneisha said she will definitely come to Kelly’s Vegas 2021 gig.
Coach Blake Shelton said Toneisha is also welcome to sing with him too, if he ever gets to play another show again. Blake said Toneisha is so special to him and to everybody who watches the show, and works on the show. “You bring us so much joy and so much credibility with your talent.” Blake said Toneisha deserves to be in the finale.
Toneisha Harris was chosen by Blake to be one of the 9 semi-finalists. She landed in the bottom five afterwards and had to compete with Megan Danielle, Allegra Miles, Zan Fiskum and Joanna Serenko for the Instant Save. Toneisha won the Instant Save and advanced to the finale.
“Because You Loved Me” is a song from Canadian singer Celine Dion’s fourth English-language studio album, Falling into You (1996). The song became a worldwide hit, reaching number one in the United States, Canada and Australia, and reaching top ten in many other countries. In the United States alone, it has sold over two million copies. “Because You Loved Me” won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or Television, and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.
Season 18 of The Voice premiered at 8PM on February 24, 2020 on NBC and will air Mondays at 8 PM. John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their third, fifth and eighteenth seasons, respectively. Nick Jonas joined the panel as a new coach, replacing Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his eighteenth season as host.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, production has done some adjustments. For the first time ever, there will be only three weeks of Live Shows: the Playoffs, the Semi-Final, and the Finale.
The three weeks of live shows will also air as lives done at each contestant’s and coach’s home.
As to the voting system, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists and artists who receive the fewest votes will be eligible for the “Instant Save”. America will then save their favorite performer by voting on “The Voice” app (available on iOS and Android) or NBC.com. The artists with the fewest number of votes will be “sent home” or eliminated each week.
