The Voice 2020 Top 17 contestants performed from their homes for the Live Playoffs, due to coronavirus outbreak or COVID-19 pandemic.
Of the 17, only nine (9) contestants moved on to the semi-finals. The nine (9) semi-finalists are composed of 4 contestants voted by the public, 4 Judges’ Choice, and 1 winner of the Wild Card round.
After the Top 9 performances, five contestants have been voted to be in the finale, namely Todd Tilghman (Team Blake), CammWess (Team Legend), Micah Iverson (Team Kelly), and Thunderstorm Artis (Team Nick). Toneisha Harris, also from Team Blake, won the Instant Save and will also be competing in the finale.

The Top 5 (finalists) will perform on Monday, May 18, 2020 at 8 PM and the Finale Top 5 results will air the next day.
Season 18 of The Voice premiered at 8PM on February 24, 2020 on NBC and aired Mondays and Tuesdays at 8PM. John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their third, fifth and eighteenth seasons, respectively. Nick Jonas joined the panel as a new coach, replacing Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Carson Daly returned for his eighteenth season as host.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, production has done some adjustments. For the first time ever, there will be only three weeks of Live Shows: the Playoffs, the Semi-Final, and the Finale. That’s a big drop compared to six weeks of Live Shows in Season 17.
The three weeks of live shows will also air as lives done at each contestant’s and coach’s home.
As to the voting system, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists and artists who receive the fewest votes will be eligible for the “Instant Save”. America will then save their favorite performer by voting on “The Voice” app (available on iOS and Android) or NBC.com. The artists with the fewest number of votes will be “sent home” or eliminated each week.
