After singing “Anyway” and “Opportunity”, Ashley Marina comes back with an original song that impresses the judges!
Ashley sang half of her first song “Anyway” when Simon stopped her and requested her to sing a second song in a cappella, saying the backing track of the first song was “very overbearing”. He wanted to hear her voice more clearly and said she had a good voice. When Simon stopped Ashley the second time around, he was heavily booed by the audience. He reasoned out that Ashley brought the “wrong” songs to the audition.
Sofia Vergara asked Simon to give Ashley another chance, which he did. Ashley was asked to come back in the afternoon to complete her audition. Simon suggested that Ashley can do a version of a guy’s song rather than what she’s doing at the moment which is a bit “karaoke.” Ashley came back onstage and performed her original song instead, a song dedicated to her father titled “You’ll Always Be My Hero.” Finally, Simon approved, saying “I think we finally met Ashley.” The 12-year-old singer and songwriter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ultimately got three Yes Votes and advanced to the next round of the competition.

She has performed on stages including Opry Mills Nashville, Harlem Globetrotters World Tour halftime show and CMA Fest Nashville Spotlight Showcase, among others. She is a regular National Anthem singer for professional sporting events.
Ashley also danced at the Abby Lee Dance Company and Millennium Dance Complex. She is also an actress and was recently cast as Young Anna in Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center’s production of Disney’s “Frozen” and appeared in the Netflix Series “Mindhunter” and Sony Pictures’ “Faith Under Fire: The Antoinette Tuff Story”.
